NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Baseball Team (7-10, 2-4 SLC) fell at home to the visiting Abilene Christian University Wildcats (12-5, 0-0 WAC) by a final score of 11-2 on Wednesday night.

Following a pair of scoreless innings pitched by Garrett Landry for the 'Jacks and Chandler Benson for ACU, the Wildcats would break the ice on scoring with a three-run top of the third to take a 3-0 lead. The Lumberjacks, however, wasted no time responding as an Isaiah Garnica double to lead off the home half of the third, led to a Ben Hoshizaki RBI single to cut the ACU lead to 3-1 after three full innings of play.

Both sides would exchange a scoreless fourth inning, before the 'Cats would strike for three runs in the top of the fifth, and two more in the top half of the sixth to hold an 8-1 lead. The Lumberjacks would start to chip away in the bottom of the sixth as Josh Ibe continued his torrid start to the season with his fourth home run of the year to cut the Wildcats lead to 8-2 after six full innings of play.

ACU would add on three more runs in the top of the seventh to take an 11-2 lead, and scoreless eighth and ninth innings exchanged by both sides would deny SFA of a comeback as they eventually fell 11-2 to the Wildcats.
