'Jacks Win Big Against Golden Lions in Third Game of the Series

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks clinched the series win over the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in the third game of the series, 13-6.

After Lumberjacks starter Elian Balmaceda was able to work out of trouble in the top of the first, the 'Jacks offense would immediately start producing. After walks by Cermodrick Bland and Mark Henning and a single by River Curs loaded the bases for Josh Ibe, Ibe was able to bring home the first Lumberjacks run of the game with a sac fly, scoring Bland. Curs would then score on an RBI fielder's choice by Julian Swift to make it 2-0 SFA. Isaiah Garnica would then bring in Henning with a double to center field. The 'Jacks would tack on one more, courtesy of an Austin Cadroy bases-loaded walk to make it 4-0 'Jacks after one inning.

Balmaceda would settle in and retire the side in order in the top of the second, striking out two. In the bottom of the inning, Ibe would bring in another run with an RBI single, scoring Curs to make it 5-0 Lumberjacks.

In the third, the Lumberjacks would break the game open, scoring four runs, courtesy of a two-RBI single by Curs and RBI singles by Ibe and Swift. The Lumberjacks would now lead 9-0.

After the third, the game would be postponed until Sunday due to weather. The game would also be moved to the Lukin Panthers Baseball and Softball Complex.

On Sunday, Lumberjacks Reid Bowyer would keep the Golden Lions bats quiet, allowing only 2 earned runs in three innings of work.

In the bottom of the fourth, Josh Ibe picked up his fourth and fifth RBI's of the game with a single, scoring Curs to make it 11-1 Lumberjacks.

Cooper Schneider would bring in another two runs in the fifth with a single up the middle, scoring Owen Hooper and Ben Hoshizaki to make it 13-2 SFA. The Golden Lions would chip away at the Lumberjacks lead in the seventh, scoring two runs to make it 13-4 in favor of SFA.

UAPB would score two more in the ninth, and SFA would win 13-6.

Reid Bowyer (1-0) would secure the win, and Nate Monceaux (0-1) would take the loss.
