
Lumberjacks Host UAPB for First Home Series of the Year

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (0-4, 0-0) host the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-3,0-0) in a four-game series in the first series at Pilgrim's Park in 2025.
A look at SFA
The SFA Lumberjacks started the 2025 season in Sugar Land, Texas, against Purdue. They went 0-4 against the Boilermakers and return home to try and get in the win column against the Lions. Starters Cody Templeton and Dylan Mulcahy had good outings to open the 2025 season. Templeton made his Lumberjack debut in dominant fashion, allowing no earned runs while striking out four Boilermakers in six innings. Mulcahy also had success, allowing one earned run in four innings of work while striking out three Purdue batters. Both players will look to build on their good starts this weekend. Templeton gets the ball in game one of the series on Friday, while Mulcahy will toe the rubber in the second game of the series on Saturday. Elian Balmaceda will go for SFA in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, and Seanan Farney will get the ball in the series finale on Sunday.
On the hitting side for the 'Jacks, there were a few standout performances in the opening series. Julian Swift had a great weekend, hitting .444 with four RBI's and a triple. Kevin Duran also played great, hitting .286 with three extra-base hits while driving in four. Finally, true freshman Cermodrick Bland was a table-setter at the top of the lineup, hitting .385 with a stolen base.

The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lions began their 2025 season by dropping the first three games to Oral Roberts. Dane Small was a bright spot for the Lions, hitting .375 with a double and a stolen base in the series. Carlos Velaz-Rodriguez hit .300 against Oral Roberts. On the mound, Senior Brant Voth had a great start to the season, throwing 4.2 innings without giving up a run. He also struck out four batters. Jaedon Willis, Steffan Fak, Emerson Lott, and Harish Balachandran all gave up no runs in relief for the Lions.
The Series
This will be the eleventh meeting between the Lumberjacks and the Lions. SFA holds an 8-2 lead in the series. The two teams most recently met last year, when the 'Jacks won 9-6 at Pilgrim's Park.
