
Ladyjacks Split Puerto Rico Clasico after Falling to the Longwood Lancers

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team capped off their Puerto Rico Clasico schedule against the Longwood Lancers in a Saturday matchup.
A layup from Harmanie Dominguez secured a 7-4 lead with 7:26 left in the first quarter. Longwood responded with a 6-0 run to take a 10-7 lead. Both teams traded runs the rest of the quarter. SFA's Cha Gardner scored the final bucket of the quarter to give the 'Jacks a slim 17-14 lead.
Both teams traded blows in the second quarter, but a three-point run from the Lancers gave them a 32-27 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
Back-to-back threes from Myka Perry and Dominguez gave the Ladyjacks a 35-32 lead. Longwood responded with a 13-2 lead to take a 45-37 lead with 4:07 left in the third. SFA went on a 6-0 spurt to cut the lead to six, 51-45. Longwood nailed a three with six seconds left in the third and took a 54-45 lead into the fourth quarter.
With eight minutes left, SFA went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to one, 59-58. Longwood responded with a 7-2 spurt to extend their lead to six, 66-60. The Lancers made one more basket and secured a 68-60 win.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Longwood now holds a 1-0 series lead over SFA.
• Harmanie Dominguez led the team with 20 points, including four three-pointers and recorded her first 20-plus point game of the season.
• Myka Perry followed with 19 points, four steals and three assists.
• Cha Gardner recorded her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
• Key Roseby followed with nine rebounds.
• Kaylinn Kemp led the team with five assists and tacked on five rebounds.
• The 'Jacks recorded 34 points in the paint, 16 points off of turnovers, and 14 fast break points.
