
Explosive Fourth Quarter Propels ‘Jacks to Win Over Bobcats

SFA outscored Texas State 25-12 in the fourth to secure a 74-66 win
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team began a three-game homestand against the Texas State Bobcats Saturday night.
Texas State jumped out to a 9-3 lead early in the first quarter and held the lead for the entire quarter. The Bobcats went into the first quarter break with a 16-13 lead after Harmanie Dominguez drained her second three of the quarter with 20 seconds left.
Both teams traded blows most of the second quarter until SFA went on a 7-0 spurt to take their first lead of the game 26-25 with 2:25 left in the second quarter. The Bobcats responded with a 6-0 run to retake the lead, 31-26. Texas State went into the locker room with a 35-31 lead.
The Bobcats came out firing in the third quarter with a three followed by a layup to extend their lead to nine, 40-31. A 7-2 run from the 'Jacks cut the lead down to four, 42-38 with 6:32 left. Both teams traded buckets the rest of the quarter, but the Bobcats went into the final ten minutes with a 54-49 lead.
Back-to-back threes from Key Roseby and Lydia Cajuste gave the Ladyjacks their first lead since the second quarter, 55-54. With 3:13 left in the game, Key Roseby made back-to-back layups to extend the 'Jacks lead to eight, 70-62. Clutch free throws from Dominguez and Kaylinn Kemp sealed a 74-66 victory for the Ladyjacks, their sixth of the season.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA extends their all-time series lead to 61-11 and their win streak goes to five games.
• Harmanie Dominguez drops her second straight 20-plus point game of the season with 21.
• Key Roseby and Myka Perry followed with 13 points each.
• Aziyah Farrier recorded her second career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and led the team with two blocks.
• Kaylinn Kemp also chipped in 10 points and led the team with seven assists which ties her career high that she set last game against Longwood.
• The 'Jacks recorded their best free throw shooting game of the season going 15-16 (.938) from the charity stripe.
