
Ladyjacks Extend Home Win Streak to 31 as SFA Defeats UTSA in Four

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks continued into the second day of the SFA Volleyball Invitational. SFA (7-5) squared up against UTSA (6-6) at 5:00 p.m. inside of the Pressure Cooker, with both teams coming off a win of their previous matches in the invitational.
UTSA started the first set off with a 4-0 run, with SFA responding back with a 3-0 run started with a Katherine Holtman kill assisted by Jayden Flynn, and a service ace from Caroline Kahle. SFA and UTSA would trade every other point, before UTSA would then go on a 4-1 run against SFA to take a 16-13 lead late in the first set. Camryn Hill and Izabella Ortiz responded back with back-to-back kills to bring the Ladyjacks within one. UTSA responded with a 7-1 run before the Jacks were able to respond back by holding UTSA to a 24-20 lead before UTSA finished off the first set.
The Ladyjacks fired a quick start with a kill from Kyanna Creecy to get the Jacks rolling on a 8-2 run. UTSA cut the lead down to three to make it 8-5, but SFA would not be denied as they later went on a four-point run which included an ace from Izabella Ortiz and a kill from Molly Cravens, 14-7. Both teams traded blows until UTSA went on a four-point run of their own to cut into the SFA lead, 21-15. The SFA offense did not take their foot off the gas as they finished out the second set on a 4-1 run with kills from Ortiz, Hill, and Cravens as they secured a 25-16 second set victory.
SFA started off hot in the third set with a 7-2 run capped off by a kill from Cravens. Both teams were able to hold serve but then were quickly sided out until late in the set when the 'Jacks went on a four-point run and took a 22-15 lead after a kill by Creecy. UTSA and SFA traded points the rest of the set, but the SFA lead was too much for UTSA to overcome as the 'Jacks won the third set, 25-18.
With the 'Jacks looking to extend their home winning streak to 31 games, SFA jumped out to a 6-3 lead with four kills from Holtman and one from Ortiz. UTSA tied it up at six and then went on a mini three-point run to take a slim 10-8 lead before going on another three-point run as they went up 13-9. The Ladyjacks fought back and cut the lead down and eventually regained the lead during a five-point run with two kills from Cravens and one from Kahle, 22-18. SFA finished off UTSA with a 3-1 run at the end of the third set to secure a 25-19 set victory and continue their dominant home winning streak.
