
Lumberjacks Head to Beaumont for Midweek

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks travel to Beaumont, Texas to play the Lamar Cardinals in a midweek game. Game time is set for 12 noon on Wednesday, April 10 at Lamar.
The Series
Lamar currently holds a 77-28 lead in the all-time series history over SFA. The last meeting between the two teams saw a Lamar win by a final score of 11-4 on March 6th, 2024, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Wednesday's game will be the third meeting between the teams this season with the Cardinals winning the first two games.
A Look at SFA
The Lumberjacks come into the game with a 5-27 overall record and a 2-13 WAC Conference record. The Lumberjacks finished a six game homestand vs. Tarleton State and Abilene Christian. The Lumberjacks finished each weekend series at 1-2 at Pilgrim's Park. SFA will look to get back in the win column against a very solid Lamar team.
Senior outfielder Cole Hill continues to be a spark for the Lumberjacks offense. After a solid weekend at the plate, Hill extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games. In those 14 games Hill has recorded six multi-hit games. Cole also currently leads the offense in three hitting categories, batting average (.331), hits (40), and runs scored (25). Peyton Parker was another 'Jack that is coming on hot. Against Abilene Christian, Parker was 8-for-12 (.666 batting average) at the plate and recorded a three-hit performance in the Friday night walk off win and went 4-for-4 at the plate on Saturday. Peyton also scored two runs and did not record a strikeout at the plate all weekend. Reid Boyett is still the leader on the mound for the Lumberjacks. Reid leads the pitching staff with his 52 innings pitcher and 42 punchouts.

The Cardinals come into the game with a 25-6 record overall and a 5-1 Southland Conference record. The Cardinals recently won the series against McNeese State after dropping the first game of the series then winning the Saturday game by a final score of 1-0 thanks to an 11-inning combined no-hitter from their pitching staff.
River Orsak is the leader for the Cardinals offense in three offensive categories. Orsak is the leader in batting average (.350), hits (41), and RBI's (31). He is also tied for the team lead with seven home runs so far this season. Brooks Caple currently leads the Cardinals pitching staff in three categories. Caple leads the pitching staff in ERA (2.37), innings pitched (49.1), and strikeouts (52).
