'Jacks Fall to Cardinals in Midweek

Beaumont, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks fell to the Lamar Cardinals today by a final score of 7-2.
Lamar got the scoring started in the first inning plating three runs and taking an early 3-0 lead. The Cardinals then struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring two runs and extending their lead 5-0. Lamar was able to score again in the bottom of the fifth inning plating one run, 6-0 and in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring one more run, 7-0.
The Lamar pitching staff was able to hold SFA scoreless through eight innings of play until the Lumberjacks struck for two runs in the top of the ninth to cut into the Cardinals lead. With the bases loaded Tom Biggs shot a single into left field scoring Bryce Yosko and Zerick Warren. Lamar would wiggle out of the jam and win the game.
Trhea Morse (3-0) took the win on the mound for Lamar and Skyler Jaco (1-4) took the loss for SFA.
The Lumberjacks return to action on Friday April 12th against WAC Conference foe California Baptist as they travel to Riverside, California for a three-game series against the Lancers.
