Track and Field Grab Nine Top Three Finishes

HOUSTON, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin track and field team traveled to the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex to take part in the Cameron Burrell Invitational. The invitational was hosted by the University of Houston and featured nine top three finishes by the Lumberjacks. SFA also had two first place finishes.
The men's team had seven top three finishes. Jarvis Anderson grabbed two 3rd place finishes for the 'Jacks. He finished third in the 400m hurdles (53.96) and third in triple jump (14.30m). SFA's men's 4x400 relay finished 2nd place with a time of 3:36.54. The relay team consisted of Dean Clarke, Luke Harden, Gerard Holmes, and Tyrone Luckett.
Hunter Murphy grabbed a 3rd place finish in the men's high jump, with a mark of 2.05m. The Lumberjack's dominated in the men's 3000m as Maxwell Murphy and Sam Martinez grabbed 1st and 2nd place respectively. Murphy had a time of 8:45.59 followed by Martinez's time of 9:15.61.
The women's team finished the invitational with three top three finishes. La'Zariah Bethany headlined SFA's women. Her mark of 11.86m notched her the 1st place finish in the triple jump. Courtny Willmington finished 2nd in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 1:05.74. The women's 4x100 relay team also grabbed a 2nd place finish with a time of 46.77. Lindsey Davis, Timiejha Furlow, Jada Gibson, and Rachel Taylor all ran in the relay.
Stephen F. Austin will be back home on April 11th-13th as they are set to host their first track meet of the season. The Lumberjacks will host the Carl Kight Invitational & Multi back in Nacogdoches, Texas at Homer Bryce Stadium.
