
Lumberjacks Fall to Wildcats in Sunday Rubber Match

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Lumberjacks lost to the Abilene Christian Wildcats by a final score of 11-3.
The Lumberjacks got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs. Brock Knoerr got the hit parade started dropping a single into left field. Peyton Parker then stepped to the plate and doubled down the right field line advancing Knoerr to third. Tom Biggs then followed suit with a double to left field scoring Knoerr and Parker. After one complete inning the Lumberjacks led 2-0.
Both teams were held scoreless until ACU responded in the top of the third inning with a solo shot to left center to cut into the SFA lead, 2-1. In the top of the fourth inning ACU scored two runs to take the lead, 3-2. The Wildcats offense was able to extend their lead in the top of the fifth inning scoring four runs to lead 7-2. In the bottom of the fifth inning Cole Hill blasted his fifth home run of the year over the left field wall and after five complete innings, ACU led 7-3.
The Wildcats were able to tack on two runs in the top of the sixth inning and two runs in the top of the seventh inning to lead 11-3. The ACU pitching staff was able to hold SFA scoreless after the fifth inning and won the game taking the series from the Lumberjacks.
Brett Lanman (5-1) took the win on the mound for the Wildcats and Conner Woods (0-1) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action Tuesday April 9th at 6:30 P.M. as they travel to Beaumont, Texas to take on the Lamar Cardinals in a midweek game.
