SFA Grabs Three Top Three Finishes at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin track and field team traveled to the University of Texas for the second time this outdoor season. Earlier this season SFA competed in the Texas Relays where they took home four top three finishes. The Lumberjacks finished the Texas Invitational this weekend with three top three finishes as well.

Nathan Kapel continued his dominant freshman year for the Lumberjacks. Kapel finished second place in the 800m with a time of 1:50.94. Cole Szedga also grabbed a second place finish for the 'Jacks as he had a mark of 66.32m in the javelin. Gideon Mengich grabbed a top three victory for SFA. He placed third in the 1500m with his time of 3:52.07. Montana Piper had the top finish for the women. She finished fourth in the javelin with a mark of 38.89m.

The Texas Invitational was the last chance for Stephen F. Austin to prepare themselves before they compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships. The WAC Championships are set to be hosted in Orem, Utah from May 9th-11th.
