
Chepkoech wins 1 Mile, Resets Program Record at Tyson Invite

First-year Jack leads three other Lumberjack women into program’s all-time top 10; Elliott runs second-fastest 1-mile time in SFA indoor history
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A handful of Stephen F. Austin distance runners capped off a successful weekend for the Lumberjacks indoors as Evaline Chepkoech set a new program record in the women's 1-mile, while Riley Elliott posted the second-fastest men's time in the event to close out the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville.
Chepkoech blazed to a 4:40.69 finish for a new program standard. Valentine Jemutai finished inside the field's top 25 with the program's third-fastest time ever at 4:52.52. Miranda Duran's 32nd place finish resulted in the sixth-fastest time ever in the event for the Lumberjack women at 4:55.43. Mercy Kipchumba also logged a top 10 time with the seventh-fastest result of 4:56.57.
In the championship section of the men's 1 mile, Riley Elliot posted a 4:02.62 for the second-fastest time in the event in SFA indoor history.
Pablo Lesarri placed 16th in the men's 1-mile at 4:10.55. Robert Fulle was nine seconds back at 4:19.75.
