Lumberjacks Lose Rubber Match to Vaqueros

EDINBURG, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks lost in a Sunday rubber match to the UTRGV Vaqueros.
The Vaqueros got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead. UTRGV would go on to score two runs in the bottom of the third inning, four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a commanding 16-0 lead after five complete innings. The Vaqueros were able to hold the Lumberjacks off the scoreboard and the 10-run rule was enacted after the top of the seventh inning. UTRGV won the game by a final score of 16-0 after seven innings.
Tyler Valdez (2-3) took the win on the mound for the Vaqueros and Elian Balmaceda (1-6) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action on Tuesday April 30th as they travel to Dallas, Texas to take on 20th ranked Dallas Baptist University for a midweek game. First pitch is set for 6:35 P.M. CST.
