Lumberjacks Drop Game Two to Vaqueros

UTRGV got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs to take the lead 3-0. In the top of the second inning Dylan Bourgeois singled to center field and scored Cal Martin to cut into the Vaqueros lead, 3-1. UTRGV responded in the bottom of the third inning scoring three two runs to lead 5-1 after three complete innings. The Vaqueros then scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead 10-1.
The Lumberjacks cut into the lead in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a Brock Knoerr single scoring Colton Griffin, 10-2. In the bottom of the fifth inning UTRGV scored one run to lead 11-2 after five complete innings. In the top of the eighth inning Tyree Carr hit a solo home run to cut into the UTRGV lead again, 11-3. The Lumberjacks fell short to the Vaqueros and will gear up for the rubber match tomorrow.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action tomorrow for a rubber match game against the Vaqueros. First pitch is set for 12:00 P.M. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. You can keep up with all the action on social media or with live stats through the SFA Athletics website.
