Lumberjacks Fall to Lancers in Series Finale

RIVERSIDE, California- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks lost the final game of a three-game series today against the California Baptist Lancers by a final score of 10-0 in eight innings.

After two scoreless innings for both teams to open the game, the Lancers struck first scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead, 2-0. CBU was able to extend their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring three runs, 5-0. The Lancers then scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to enact the 10-run rule and win the game. The Lumberjacks collected four hits in the game but were held scoreless.

Brandon Downer (4-2) took the win on the mound for the Lancers and Elian Balmaceda (1-5) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.

The Lumberjacks will be back in action at home for a midweek game against the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff on April 17th at 6:30 P.M. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. You can follow all the action on social media or with live stats through the SFA Athletics website.
