Lumberjacks Drop Both Games to Tritons in Friday Doubleheader

Game 1
After two scoreless innings to start the game, the Tritons got things started with a three-run home run to take the lead 3-0. UC San Diego then scored two in the fourth before SFA responded with two-runs of their own in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a Sam Adams sacrifice fly and Julian Thompson hitting into a fielder's choice scoring Nolan Brown from third base.
The Tritons responded again in the bottom of the fifth plating three-runs and extending their lead to 8-2. After a scoreless sixth inning for both teams, Julian Thompson cut into the Tritons lead in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly allowing Cody Fleischer to score. Yet again UC San Diego responded in the bottom of the seventh with another two runs to lead 10-3. In the top of the ninth inning Cody Fleischer crushed a home run over the left field wall but the Lumberjacks couldn't get anything else going and the Tritons won by a final score of 10-4.
Ryan Forcucci (2-0) took the win on the mound for the Tritons and Skyler Jaco (0-1) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
Game 2
SFA was able to get the scoring started in the top of the second inning as Julian Thompson hit into another fielder's choice allowing Nolan Brown to score. SFA led 1-0 after two complete. UC San Diego then rallied to push three runs across in the bottom of the third to take the lead 3-1. Nolan Brown stepped up to the plate in the top of the fourth inning and hit his fourth home run of the year to left center field, bringing the Lumberjacks back within one run. SFA held UC San Diego scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, but the Tritons still led 3-2 after four complete innings.
The Tritons were able to tack on one-run in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend their lead 4-2 after five complete innings. Neither team was able to push anything across the rest of the game and UC San Diego won by a final score of 4-2. Reid Boyett recorded a new career high with eight complete innings pitched.
Zack Ernisse (1-0) took the win on the mound for the Tritons and Reid Boyett (0-2) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action Saturday, March 2nd for the third game of the series against the Tritons. First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M. CST. There will be no broadcast for tomorrow's game.
