ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico- Stephen F. Austin wrapped up their WAC Championships this week. SFA's men finished fourth with 83 points and the women finished tied for seventh with 45 points.
"We came home with some really strong wins and All-WAC performances. I am proud of the effort of most of our athletes this weekend, Head Coach Robert Hansen said, "We're starting to get some things figured out, and I trust our men's team going forward. We are very young on the men's side, with a ton of freshmen and sophomore's scoring the bulk of our points."
Nathan Kapel finished second overall in the men's mile. He also grabbed a first-place finish in the 800m. His time of 3:59.76 in the 800m once again broke his own school record. The men's DMR, which consisted of Wyatt Hoover, Malcolm Washington, Blake Hyatt, and Nathan Kapel finished third with a time of 10:06.46. Gideon Mengich finished third in the 5000m with a time of 14:44.40. Francisco Marques also notched a top three victory with his second-place finish in the 60m hudles.

"Our women definitely have some things to figure out so that we can be more competitive in the team comp, Head Coach Hansen said, "We have some solid pieces and I see the young ones really buying in, so it'll be our job as a staff to continue to build on the successes we did experience!"
Cyan Green posted a second place finish in the shot put with her distance of 47'8". She also had a first-place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 14.53m.
