Lumberjack Track and Field Travel to Charlie Thomas Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin track and field team travel down the road where they will take part in the Charlie Thomas Invitational. This meet is hosted by the University of Texas A&M and will be an all-day meet on February 2nd. SFA will be a part of field that doesn't feature many teams but has plenty of talent.
"The meet will be smaller than we're used to but still pretty competitive," said Head Coach Robert Hansen. His squad is coming off a decent showing at the Robert Platt Invitational. Nathan Kapel continued his dominant first season at the college level with his first-place finish in the 800m.
This team is filled with plenty of underclassmen who have begun to find their footing throughout the early part of this track season. "I'm looking for the team to take another step forward in terms of their competitive spirit and their preparedness, Coach Hansen said, "We're pretty young, so this meet will help us gain more valuable experience on the big stage."
The Charlie Thomas Invitational will conclude on February 2nd and will be the Lumberjack's first time competing this month. SFA's next opportunity to compete will come on February 9th when they travel back to Houston, Texas. This time Stephen F. Austin will be taking part in the Howie Ryan Invitational that will be hosted by the University of Houston.
