Morgan Sisters Make Southland History as ‘Jacks Ride Past Vaqueros

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- The no. 1 seeded Stephen F. Austin soccer team (12-3-2, 8-2-0 SLC) began their road to a Southland Tournament Championship against the no. 8 seeded UTRGV Vaqueros (7-7-5, 3-3-4 SLC).
The winds were whipping in Corpus as the 'Jacks began their SLC Tournament journey which affected the strategy for both teams. In the 19th minute, Ava Shannon sent a corner kick into the six-yard box where it bounced around until Erin Morgan was able to knock it in past the UTRGV keeper for the first goal of her collegiate career, 1-0. Six minutes later in the 25th minute, Jayme Bailey drove the ball down the right side and took a shot that bounced off the far post and right to the feet of Brielle Buchanan for her eighth goal of the season, 2-0. History was made in the 34th minute as Ella Morgan scored her second goal of the season off a rebound from Kamryn Jiles' shot, 3-0. With that goal the Morgan sisters are the first set of sisters to score a goal in the same Southland Tournament game. UTRGV scored a goal in 89th minute to make the score 3-1 which ended up being the final score.
