
Five Ladyjacks Finish with Double-Digit Kills as SFA Defeats McNeese in Final Regular Season Game

LAKE CHARLES, La.- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball team (22-7, 14-2 SLC) traveled to Lake Charles for their final regular season game against the McNeese Cowgirls (10-18, 6-10 SLC).
McNeese started off the match with a 3-1 run before SFA went on a mini run to take a slim 4-3 lead. After both teams sided out, McNeese recorded three points in a row to take an 8-6 lead. Later in the set, McNeese had another three-point spurt to extend their lead to four, 14-10. SFA tried to chip away at the lead, but the gap was too much for the 'Jacks to overcome as the Cowgirls secured a 25-19 first set victory.
Both teams were successful in siding out the first four points, but SFA went on a four point-run that included a kill from Katherine Holtman and Caroline Kahle to take a 6-2 lead. Later on the 'Jacks went on another four-point spurt to extend their lead to 12-6. Both teams traded blows until SFA went on a three-point run followed by a McNeese four-point run, 21-17. The Ladyjacks finished off the second set on a three-point run to secure a 25-19 second set victory.
SFA jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set, and quickly extended their lead to 7-3. McNeese tied the set up at 10 before SFA went on another 4-1 spurt to retake a 14-11 lead with back-to-back kills from Harley Krause. Later the Ladyjacks went on a five-point run to give the 'Jacks a commanding 22-15 lead. SFA finished the third set with a kill from Molly Cravens followed by an ace from Jayden Flynn to secure a 25-18 third set victory.
The fourth set was tightly contested as neither team held more than a three-point lead until SFA went on a mini run to take an 11-6 lead midway through the set. McNeese cut the lead down to two before SFA then extended it back to nine off a 7-0 run, 19-10. Both teams traded blows the rest of the set, but SFA secured a 25-18 fourth set victory off back-to-back kills from Kennedy Jones and Krause.
