Ladyjacks Sweep Cardinals and Remain Undefeated in Southland Play

BEAUMONT, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball team (13-5, 5-0 SLC) headed down to Beaumont for a quick matchup with the Lamar University Cardinals (10-7, 2-3 SLC).
Both teams were successful in siding out at the beginning of the match until SFA went on a four-point run which put the 'Jacks up 11-9. Later in the set, SFA went on another four-point run which extended their lead to 18-12. The rest of the points scored by SFA in the first set were kills; three from Kyanna Creecy, two from Katherine Holtman, one from Camyrn Hill, and one from Jayden Flynn. Back-to-back kills from Holtman and Creecy secured a 25-19 first set victory.
SFA came out on fire in the second set as they went on a 8-1 run that was capped off by back-to-back aces from Hill. The 'Jacks went on a mini three-point run to extend their lead, 11-2. Both teams traded blows for the rest of the set, but the SFA offense was too much for Lamar as the 'Jacks cruised to a 25-15 second set victory.
Lamar jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third, but that did not last long as SFA then scored seven points in a row which included three kills in a row from Holtman. The Ladyjack dominance continued as the 'Jacks went on a 7-1 run to extend their lead, 15-6. The 'Jacks finished the match on a 5-0 run which was finished off with an ace from Cambry Saul as SFA won the third set 25-12.
With this win over Lamar, head coach Debbie Humphreys earned her 835th career win which puts her in a tie with Brian Gimmillaro for 15th most wins all-time.
