
Lumberjacks Host Huskies on Homecoming Weekend

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (4-3, 2-2) host the Houston Christian Huskies (3-4, 1-1) during Homecoming weekend in a Southland Conference (SLC) game at Homer Bryce Stadium.
Homecoming History
The Lumberjacks are playing in their 97th Homecoming game at SFA and the Jacks will look to win their 50th Homecoming game as they currently hold a 49-42-5 all-time record in Homecoming games.
Series History
Saturday will be the sixth meeting between the Lumberjacks and Huskies with the Lumberjacks holding a 4-1 series lead over Houston Christian. SFA has won the last two games against the Huskies. The series dates to October 18th, 2014, a Lumberjacks 59-27 victory. The most recent meeting was on October 20th, 2018, a 42-14 SFA win.
A Look at SFA
The Lumberjacks are coming off a tough 23-24 loss to Southeastern Louisiana snapping the Lumberjacks three game win streak.
Sam Vidlak had another good outing for SFA, setting a career-high in completions (29) while passing for 244 yards and one touchdown. Sam has thrown 18 touchdowns this season, putting him second in Lumberjacks history behind Brad Attaway's mark of 19 touchdown passes through the first seven games of the season in 2013. Jerrell Wimbley was the leading rusher for the 'Jacks with 11 carries for 83 yards. Kylon Harris had a big game setting a new career high of 13 catches, resulting in 116 yards.
Jeremiah Walker led the way for the Lumberjacks defense with eight tackles and one pass breakup. Aaron Austin was a huge player for the Lumberjacks against the Lions totaling six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
A Look at HCU
The Huskies are coming off a bye week and dropped their last game to Southeastern Louisiana by a score of 37-7.
CJ Rogers led the passing game for the Huskies against Southeastern completing four passes for 75 yards. Darryle Evans led the rushing attack for the Huskies with 20 rushes for 128 yards. Deuce McMillan led the way for the receivers with two catches for 47 yards. The lone touchdown in the game came from Champ Dozier as he recorded a rushing touchdown. Braden Hay led the way for the defense with 16 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.
HOMECOMING NOTES
Game day will kick off with the Alumni Association's Homecoming Flap "Jack" breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at The Fredonia Hotel. Following the breakfast will be the Homecoming parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Nacogdoches.
SFA volleyball will play against Northwestern State University at noon in Shelton Gym, then the Lumberjack football team will take center stage when they face Houston Christian University at 6 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium.
The Alumni Association will host two pre-kickoff tailgates before the football game. The first will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fredonia Brewery. That will be followed by their Alumni Corner Tailgate and Fall Fest beginning at 3 p.m. on the corner of Raguet and Hayter streets.
