Lumberjacks Back in National Polls After Knocking-off Lamar

WACO, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are back in the national FCS polls, receiving five votes this week in the 2024 AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. The Lumberjacks have won three straight games including a 27-20 win over nationally ranked Lamar University this past Saturday. The Lumberjacks also received 43 points in the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Top 25.
This is the fourth time this season the Lumberjacks have received votes in the national polls.
The Cardinals were ranked 22nd in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll and were receiving votes in the 2024 AFCA FCS Coaches Poll.
Sam Vidlak had this second consecutive 300+ yard passing game against the Cardinals. Qualan Jones rushed for 119 yards on 21 carries with two rushing touchdowns. Kylon Harris and Blaine Green combined for 17 catches, 209 yards, and one touchdown against Lamar.
The defense stood tall again in the win holding the Cardinals to just 20 points and coming up with a huge stop as time expired, swatting away the Hail Mary pass to secure the win. Jaheim Mullen collected his third interception in two games. Jermaine Brown was also the top tackler for the defense for the second game in a row with 10 total tackles.
The Lumberjacks head to Hammond, LA this Saturday, October 19, to face the Southeastern University Lions in a 4:00 p.m. game.
