NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Rachel Taylor and Wyatt Hoover have strong opening performances to help lead the 'Jacks to victories at the 2023 Lumberjack Invitational.
Taylor finished with a time of 17:26, placing her at second overall in the field and was her second fastest time at the 3 mile distance. Finishing right behind her was Graduate Student Tereza Lukasova with a time of 17:37. Maggie Marshall rounded out the top five with a time of 17:44.
Hoover led the 'Jacks on the men's side with a time of 18:39, placing him 3rd in the field. Along with Hoover, four other runners from SFA rounded out the top six.
Coach Rob Hansen was extremly pleased with the results. "The race plan today was to run in a pack for 75% of the race and we executed that perfectly. We had a great balance of strong veterans up front with Wyatt, Rachel, and Maggie, coupled with newcomers like Tereza and the men freshman trio."
SFA will return to action next Saturday on September 8th at the Rice Invitational starting at 6:20 PM.
