‘Jacks Tie with Texans to Begin WAC Play

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Tarleton State Texans and SFA Lumberjacks ended Thursday night's game in a 1-1 tie.
The Lumberjacks entered the matchup against Tarleton looking to snap a seven-game skid and claim their first home win of the season. Logan Pilgreen secured her first collegiate start in goal today as she was given the starting nod in goal today. In the first half, SFA would jump on the board quickly as the dynamic duo of Ava Shannon and Jayme Bailey struck again for SFA. In the 15th minute, Shannon picked up her second assist in as many games as she fed Jayme Bailey, who scored her second goal of the season. Bailey snuck her shot in the upper right section of the goal past the outstretched goalie and got SFA out to a quick 1-0 lead. That is the score that would stand until halftime as SFA poured on 10 total shots in the first half with three of them being on goal. The second half was quiet up until the 86th minute, when Mia Bettinelli snuck one past Pilgreen in the lower right section of the goal to get Tarleton on the board. Pilgreen held her own in the second half as she faced six shots on goal and stopped five of them to allow SFA to escape with a tie.
Overall, Pilgreen made five saves and played the entire 90 minutes against Tarleton. Morgan Donohue, Ava Shannon, Jayme Bailey, Lily Hargrove, Gabrielle Gipson, Reaganne Crane, Caelynn January, and Lilian Adams all recorded shots for SFA as the 'Jacks finished with 16 total shots. Donohue, Bailey, and Hargrove recorded shots on goal for the Lumberjacks with Bailey scoring the lone SFA goal with an assist from Shannon.
The Lumberjacks wrap up their short two-game home stint on Sunday, September 24th when the Abilene Christian Wildcats come to Nacogdoches.
