
Ladyjacks Earn Their Second Consecutive Sweep Against Nicholls

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Nicholls 3-0 in their second match of the SFA tournament.
Points were traded between the teams at the beginning of the first set until the 'Jacks went on a four-point spurt to extended the lead to 9-4. SFA continued to grow their lead and ended the set on the a 6-0 run to secure a 25-9 victory. Nicholls went on a four-point run early in the second set to take a 7-4 lead. The 'Jacks followed with a five-point run to retake the lead, 9-7. Later on in the second set the Ladyjacks went on a 10-0 run, which was fueled by three kills from Camryn Hill, two from Ariana Pagan and two from Izabella Ortiz. SFA quickly wrapped up the second set and won 25-14. In the third set, the 'Jacks jumped out to a 6-2 lead. SFA had a four and a five point run to extend the lead to 16-7. Back-to-back points were traded between the teams until the 'Jacks came out on top with a 25-18 match victory.
SFA led in points (53-25), kills (40-19), aces (3-2), blocks (10-4), assists (39-18), and digs (76-57). Hill led the team with 13 kills and was one dig off of another double-double. Ielan Bradley, Oritz, and Pagan each finished with seven kills. Jayden Flynn led the team with 21 assists and recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 digs. Haley Hoang led the 'Jacks with 25 digs, followed by Pagan who recorded 12. Ortiz had another stellar blocking performance with six blocks, followed by Tanishua Joseph who recorded four.
SFA will play the final game of the SFA Tournament Saturday, September 2nd at 1:30 p.m. as they face off against Southern Mississippi.
