NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The SFA Women's Volleyball program kicks off the SFA Tournament Thursday night against Cal Poly, followed by games Friday and Saturday against Nicholls and University of Southern Mississippi.
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
The SFA Ladyjacks kick off their first home game of the season against Cal Poly with a 2-1 overall record, looking to defend their 2023 WAC title. In game two of the tournament, the SFA Women's Volleyball team will look to continue their success against Nicholls State University. The Ladyjacks have found consistent success against Nicholls winning their previous 12 matchups against them. The last time SFA was defeated by Nicholls was in October of 2010, when SFA fell 3-2. In the finale of their tournament, the 'Jacks will look to keep their undefeated record against University of Southern Mississippi. The Ladyjacks finished the South Alabama Tournament last weekend in Mobile Alabama winning their first game against Jackson State 3-0. Playing in the nightcap of a two-game day on Friday, SFA fell 3-1 to the University of South Alabama, before rebounding with a commanding 3-1 win over Tulane University on Saturday afternoon. In the most recent game against Tulane, the 'Jacks dropped the first set 25-22, but roared back and won the final three sets by six or more points in each set. In the game against Tulane, SFA led in points (67-65), kills (49-46), and digs (77-64). Ielan Bradley led the Ladyjacks in kills against Tulane with 13, while Maddy Bourque led with 21 assists, and Camryn Hill finished with 19 digs defensively.
Mustangs at a Glance:
The Cal Poly Mustangs enter the Stephen F. Austin tournament with a 2-1 overall record. After dropping the first game of the Sacramento State Invitational against Iowa 3-1, the Mustangs won their next two games against Nevada and Sacramento State. In their most recent game, the Mustangs won 3-0 against Sacramento State, Cal Poly led in points (58-40), kills (43-32), aces (6-3), blocks (9-5), assists (40-31), and digs (41-37).

The Nicholls Colonels enter the tournament with a 1-2 record overall with their latest game resulting in a 3-0 loss to Oral Roberts as part of the Bearkat Invitational Tournament held August 25th and 26th in Huntsville Tennessee. So far this season for the Colonels, Autumn Perry and Trinity Vinzant have been leading the Colonels so far this season, as both average over 2.50 points won per set for the Colonels.
Golden Eagles at a Glance:
The Golden Eagles enter the tournament looking to claim their first win of the season as they hold a record of 0-3 on the year. The Golden Eagles have played three teams ranked nationally to begin their season. They opened their season against No. 23 Rice, followed by the Flo Hyman Classic where they dueled No. 19 Houston, and clashed with No. 22 USC. In their most recent game against USC, Mia Wesley led the team with 10 kills, while Franky Panunzio dished out 15 assists, and Megan Harris had 8 digs.
