'Jacks Offense Goes Cold as SFA Drops Game 2 vs Utah Valley

OREM, Utah- The SFA Lumberjacks dropped the second game of their three game series 3-1 at Utah Valley today. The Jacks dropped to 21-24 (12-14 WAC) and Utah Valley improved to 24-21 (10-11 WAC).
It was a chilly 59 degrees today in Utah, and the bats for SFA just couldn't get going. Utah Valley struck first as a Daniel Dickinson RBI single put them up 1-0. Reid Boyett did a great job of damage control, as he came in and got the last two outs with the bases loaded. In the third, Garrett Broussard scored on a Cole Jordan sacrifice fly to put the Wolverines up 2-0.
In the fourth, Cole Hill continued his strong recent stretch with an RBI single to score Cal Martin. That was all of the offense for the Jacks on the evening, as Utah Valley's staff held SFA to just six hits and the one run. In the fifth, Calyn Halvorson gave Utah Valley some insurance with a home run to left, putting the Wolverines up 3-1, a score that would end up being final.
On the bright side, the Jacks bullpen was solid, allowing only one run and seven hits in six and two thirds innings. Hill had a productive day, going 2-4 with the home run.
The Jacks will look to win the series tomorrow as they wrap up against Utah Valley at 1:05 p.m.
