WAC Track and Field Championships Conclude

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The WAC Track and Field Championships wrapped up day three, marking the conclusion of the week's events.
Starting with SFA's women's field events. Jayla Hooper placed fifth place (4 pts) in the discus throw. Nissi Kabongo, Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon, and Angel Richmore all contributed critical points through the high jump. Kabongo finished first (10 pts) in the event with a mark of 1.83m. Richmore finished tied for third (5.5 pts), with a mark of 1.74m. Coquillaud-Salomon contributed a tie for sixth (2.5 pts), with her 1.68m high jump. The SFA triple jumpers were led by Montierra Warren. Warren finished fifth (4 pts), with a jump of 12.07m. Faith Nze finished behind her in eighth (1 pts), jumping a distance of 11.79m. The women also took two top three finishes in the javelin throw. Angel Richmore continued her dominance, with a second place finish (8 pts) and a throw of 46.31m. Richmore was supported by Montana Piper's third place (6 pts) finish and throw of 45.15m.
The men's field events were highlighted by Lumberjack stud: Branson Ellis. Ellis found himself in familiar territory, with his first place (10 pts) vault of 5.49m. Jovan Canak contributed an eighth place (1 pt) triple jump of 14.42m. Cade Willis competed in the discus throw, finishing with sixth (3 pts), with his 49.21m throw. The men's field events wrapped up with the high jump. Nicholas Grullon found a third place (6 pts) finish, with his 2.04m jump.
The SFA runners for the men began with the 4x100. The relay consisted of Sheldon Noble, Devin Miles, Jonathan Allen, and Joseph Harding. The group finished fourth (5 pts), with a time of 40.40. Riley Elliott once again contributed, with his sixth place (3 pts) finish of 3:46.90. Nicholas Grullon topped off his impressive week, with multiple qualifying finishes. Grullon placed first (10 pts) in the 400m hurdle, with his time of 52.70. Grullon also finished seventh (2 pts) in the 110m hurdles, with a time of 14.54. Germain Lemaitre added a third place (6 pts) finish, with his 800m time of 1:50.58. The men's runners were capped off by the sixth place (3 pts) 3:11.69 finish, in the 4x400 relay. The group consisted of Luke Harden, Devin Miles, Miguel Escamilla, and Jonathan Allen.
The women's runners were headed by the 4x100 relay. Lindsey Davis, Timiejha Furlow, Morgan Taylor, and Kierra Yarbrough finished sixth place (3 pts), with a time of 45.57. Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon finished fourth (5 pts) in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 13.59. Nissi Kabongo was the story line for the women, however. Kabongo won her second individual championship, while setting a new school record in the 400m hurdles. She finished first (10 pts), with a time of 56.99. Kabongo also contributed points through the 400m dash, finishing fourth (5 pts) with a time of 53.45. The women's runners were capped off by the 100m dash. Kierra Yarbrough finished sixth (3 pts), with a time of 11.78. Yarbrough was followed by seventh place (2 pts) Timiejha Furlow. Furlow finished with a time of 11.86.
