
Ladyjacks Drop Homestand Finale

NACOGDOCHES, Texas. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks basketball team was defeated 78-55 on Thursday evening by the UNT Mean Green.
The Ladyjacks came into this match against the Mean Green looking to bounce back from a close loss to the Liberty Flames in their last game. The 'Jacks started this game off strong in the first quarter as they turned a 9-8 deficit midway through the first quarter into a 19-13 lead at the end of the first thanks to an 11-5 run that saw Trinity Moore score seven of the 11 points and Destini Lombard score the other four. The second quarter saw some furious scoring as the Mean Green went on a 17-2 run to carry a 30-21 lead. However, the Ladyjacks responded with 8-0 run of their own which was highlighted by Zoe Nelson scoring four points and Destini Lombard knocking down a three-pointer and found themselves down only a point at halftime. The second half saw UNT find their groove as they shot over 50% from the field in both the third and fourth quarters, which saw them put up 48 points between the two quarters and pull away late for a 78-55 road win.
Three Ladyjacks scored in double-digits as Kyla Deck, Kurstyn Harden, Trinity Moore were the offensive stars for SFA tonight. Deck finished with a team-leading 13 points and posted another strong defensive effort as she led the team with five steals. Harden posted 10 points and came one rebound short of a double-double while adding three steals of her own. Meanwhile, Moore posted a strong all-around game as she had 11 points, four rebounds, and a pair of steals in just 18 minutes of playtime. Zoe Nelson, Tyler McCliment-Call, and Destini Lombard all played over 20 minutes tonight as starters and combined for 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and three steals between the three.
The Ladyjacks were able to find success down low in the paint as they scored 30 points in the paint and were breaking up passes all night long as they recorded 14 steals, which translated to 20 points off turnovers, their third straight game with double-digit steals.
The Ladyjacks will hit the road for the first time this season as they will travel to Houston to square off with Texas Southern University on Wednesday, November 22nd at 7:00 p.m. CST.
