
Multiple Lumberjacks Finish Top Five at Robert Platt Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas- Stephen F. Austin competed in the Robert Platt invitational, yesterday in Houston, Texas. The invitational was hosted by the University of Houston.
Head Coach Robert Hansen said, "Today was workday for our group. We're continually worried about putting in great work and competing hard. The marks and performances are in the process right now, and I feel really good about what I'm seeing program wide."
The Lumberjacks placed multiple individuals and relays in the top five, in their events.
In the women's 60 hurdles finals, Sophomores Morgan Taylor and Mathilde Guillaume reached top finishes. Taylor finished 2nd with an 8.58 and Guillaume finished 4th with an 8.72. The women's 4x400 relay made up of Courtny Wilmington, Annie King, Chandee Bachmeyer, and Courtney Young finished 5th, with a time of 3.57.75.
In the women's high jump, Angel Richmore finished 1st with a mark of 1.75m. Ayi-Lissa Dotson and Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon finished 3rd and 4th, with marks of 1.65m. Michelle Ogbemudia and Angel Richmore highlighted the women's shot put. Ogbemudia finished 1st with a 15.27m throw, while Richmore finished 4th with a 14.32m mark. Jayla Hooper also achieved a top five finish in the women's weight throw. She finished 3rd, with a mark of 17.91m.
The men had a couple top five finishes of their own. In the men's 800 meters, Riley Elliott finished 2nd with a time of 1.54.14, Blake Hyatt finished 3rd with a 1.54.31, and Germain Lemaitre finished 4th with a 1.54.31. In the men's mile, Clark Otte, Lewis Mills, and Riley Elliott all placed top five. Otte finished 3rd with a 4.13.26, Mills finished 4th with a 4.16.27, and Elliott finished 5th with a 4.17.27.

Malcolm Washington, Jonathan Allen, Devin Miles, and Gerard Holmes all competed in the men's 4x400 relay. They finished 2nd, with a time of 3.15.86. The men's shot put was led by Cade Willis who threw a 16.10m throw, to take 5th place. Cameron Steward and Kayson Elijah placed in the top five, for the men's weight throw. Steward placed 3rd with a throw of 18.21m, while Elijah finished 5th with a throw of 17.21m.
Coach Hansen highlighted the performances of Courtney Young and Michelle Ogbemudia. "I'm particularly pleased with Courtney Young running a huge lifetime best at 200m, along with how most of our 200m guys competed. Michelle had a huge throw, a sensational breakthrough, and that was really special to see", said Coach Hansen.
Stephen F. Austin will travel January 27th, to take part in the New Mexico Team Challenge in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
