Ladyjacks Defeat Sam Houston in Conference Home Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Sam Houston in conference play, 1-0 Friday night. SFA improves to 2-7-1 (1-2 WAC) while SHSU falls to 1-6-1 (0-3 WAC).
The lone goal of this game was scored by Teia Haynes in the 59th minute off of a corner kick from Reaganne Crane which was deflected by Destiny Ramirez to Haynes who redirected it over the goalie's head and into the back of the net. SFA led SHSU in shots (21-7) and corner kicks (12-1).
Carly Wyatt led the Ladyjacks with two shots on goal while six other Ladyjacks had one shot on goal. Of the 21 shots from SFA, Crane recorded the most with six shots. Haynes scored her first goal of the season, while Ramirez notched her first assist of the season, and Crane tallied her third assist of the year.
The Ladyjacks will play the second of their four-game home stand Sunday, September 25th at 1 p.m. for a matchup with the Aggies of New Mexico State on Family Day.
