NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin softball program is excited to announce the hiring of Christina May as Assistant Coach.
"Coach May is the hardest worker and most loyal coach I know. She is a top hitting instructor in the country and has one of the best offensive mindsets in the game of softball. She is a true player's coach and consistently gets the most out of her athletes. I can't express how excited I am to be joining back up with Coach May after 5 highly successful years at A&M-Commerce!" said SFA Head Softball Coach, Richie Bruister.
May is excited to join SFA.
"I would like to thank Coach Bruister and the athletics administration for the opportunity to coach at SFA. I am excited to work with Coach Bruister again and continue to build on the success of the softball program." added May.
May joins SFA after three years of being the head softball coach at Nacogdoches High School. Previously, she worked on the coaching staff at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2013 to 2018, where she led one of the best offenses in Divison II. Including a 2018 team who led all of Division II in on-base percentage, finished second in home runs per game, third in slugging percentage, fourth in scoring average, sixth in batting average and seventh in stolen bases. Prior to Texas A&M-Commerce, May worked for five years as an Associate Head Coach at West Texas A&M, where she helped coach the Lady Buffs to a 2014 NCAA National Championship and earned NFCA Division II Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
