
Jacks Defeat PVAMU in Run-Rule Fashion

SFA crushes four homeruns including two from Lilly Bean to cruise to a 12-4 victory.
After a scoreless first inning thrown by starters Crimson Bryant and Gabrielle Larson, SFA got on the board quickly in the top of the second with two solo homeruns from Malia Jones and Lilly Bean, 2-0. The Panthers scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second and took the lead with two more runs in the bottom of the third, 3-2. Ella Hill joined the homerun parade in the top of the fourth with a solo homerun to tie the game up at three.
In the top of the fifth, Kaylee Paul, Ellie Vance, and Adelyn Becerra all reached safely to load up the bases for Jones. Jones hit a two-RBI single to left field which brought in Paul and Vance, 5-3. Then a defensive miscue from PVAMU allowed Becerra to score, 6-3. Later, Bean stepped up to the plate with Jones on third and blasted her second homerun of the day, 8-3. PVAMU added one run in the bottom of the fifth before SFA continued to pour it on in the top of the sixth. Jamie Varga and Paul drew back-to-back walks before Vance reached on a fielder's choice to put two runners on first and second for Becerra. Becerra cleared the bases with a double to extend the Jacks lead, 10-4. Alexis Grigsby pinch hit for Jones and hit an RBI single to right center to bring in Becerra, 11-4. After Mallory Dwyer drew a walk, Kayden Frazier recorded her second straight game with an RBI as she hit a single to left field to score Grigsby, 12-4. Jordyn Ages closed out the bottom of the sixth to secure a 12-4 run-rule victory for SFA.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Three Lumberjacks recorded two hits led by a 2-2 day rom Malia Jones, then two hits from Adelyn Becerra and Lilly Bean.
• Bean led the team with two homeruns followed by one from Jones and Ella Hill.
• Jones and Bean tied for the team lead with three RBIs followed by two from Becerra.
• Crimson Bryant threw two hitless innings and struck out three batters.
• Jordyn Ages pitched four innings in relief and struck out four batters.

The Jacks will return home to being a three-game series against Northwestern State on Friday, April 3 at 5:00 p.m.
