
WAC Indoor Track and Field: Men & Women Place 2nd

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Stephen F. Austin concluded the 2022 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships and earned runner-up in both the men and women team scores. The men totaled 96.50 points and the women finished with 107 points.
The Ladyjacks had several standout performances.
Nissi Kabongo won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.78.
The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon, Asia Giles, Brianna Nolen, and Kabongo won gold with a mark of 3:46.26.
Kabongo won gold again in the high jump with a mark of 1.78 meters.
Riley Floerke earned runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters.
Aolani Harris placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.61 meters.
Brianna Nolen placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.26.
The distance medley team of Maggie Marshall, Christiana Mudd, Brianna Nolen, and Allyson McCutcheon finished fourth with a time of 12:23.73.
The Ladyjacks pointed in the shot put. Angel Richmore finished fifth with a toss of 14.22 meters, Riley Cross placed sixth with a mark of 14.19 meters, and Jayla Hooper finished seventh with a throw of 13.42 meters.
Hooper earned runner-up in the weight throw with a heave of 18.98 meters.
SFA also placed three in the indoor pentathlon. Coquillaud-Salom finished with 3829 points to earn runner-up. Chandee Bachmeyer placed third with 3552 points and Avery Ellis-Byerly finished fourth with 3527 points.
In men's action, Jeremiah Curry won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.71.
Muzuri Mattar won the gold in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.39, while Curry placed third with a time of 46.73.
The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Justin Garcia, Jonathan Allen, Curry and Mattar seized first place with a mark of 3:11.08.
Asani Hylton won gold in the high jump with a mark of 2.17 meters. Andrew Phillips placed eighth with a jump of 2.00 meters.
SFA had three score in the pole vault. Branson Ellis earned runner-up with a jump of 5.38 meters, while Gabe Gilfillan finished third with a mark of 5.03 meters. Hunter Krc placed fifth with a jump of 4.83 meters.
In men's shot put, Kevin Steward placed sixth with a heave of 16.28 meters, Cade Willis finished seventh with a toss of 15.59 meters and Cam Steward came in at eighth with a throw of 15.49 meters.
In the weight throw, Kayson Elijah placed sixth with a toss of 16.55 meters, Kevin Steward finished in seventh with a mark of 16.49 meters and Cam Steward registered a heave of 16.30 meters and placed eighth.
Lewis Mills set a school record in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:09.91.
The distance relay team of Parker Jones, Garcia, Allen, and Mills placed third with a mark of 10:17.03.
Max Murphy earned sixth place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:07.12.
Clark Otte finished eighth in the 3000-meter run with a mark of 8:38.74.
