Three Lumberjacks Get Named to the Stats Perform FCS All-America Teams

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's BJ Thompson and Xavier Gipson were named to the 2022 Stats Perform FCS All-America Team, while Edward Bobino was named to the 2022 Stats Perform FCS Freshman All-America Team.
Thompson had a senior year to remember as he tallied 25 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. His biggest game of the year came against Tarleton (10/15) where he recorded five tackles, four of them being solo and 2.5 being for loss of yards, 2.5 sacks, and forced three fumbles.
2022 was a breakout year for Bobino as he solidified his name as one of the next defensive greats for SFA. This year he picked up 39 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, three fumble recoveries, one pass break up, and two blocked kicks. In the match against Central Arkansas (11/12), Bobino recorded seven tackles, six were solo and two were for loss of yardage, and recovered a fumble.
Gipson continues to make room on his monumental resume as in this year alone he has been awarded Finalist for Walter Payton Award, WAC Offensive Player of the Year, Phil Steele's WAC Offensive Player of the Year, FCS AP All-American First Team, Bluebloods 2022 FCS All-American Team, and now the 2022 Stats Perform FCS All-America Team.
