GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team continue their non-conference schedule against Furman as the Lumberjacks look to continue their win streak and remain undefeated in enemy territory.
Lumberjacks Statistical Analysis
The 'Jacks have fully utilized their "PressU" approach as they now are 1st in the nation with 21.50 turnovers forced per game. Their fast-paced defense has held their opponents to under 80 points in eight out of their ten games played so far. The team currently has four players with at least 13 steals on the season and Nana Antwi-Boasiako continues to account for roughly half of the 'Jacks 27 total blocks with 13 of his own.
Latrell Jossell and Kyle Hayman remain hot from the three-point line as they have a .531 and .500 three-point percentage, respectively. The Lumberjacks as a whole flex their muscles from beyond the arc as they are 6th in the nation in three-point percentage with .421.
Sadaidriene Hall continues to be the lead scorer for the 'Jacks and is a problem in the paint for opposing defenses with a strong .620 field goal percentage and 13.3 points per game. He also leads the team with 61 total rebounds. With injuries remaining a problem for the Lumberjacks, Hall keeps making a statement for why he deserves a starting role in the lineup.

Stephen F. Austin defeated Louisiana Tech 80-79 in overtime Thursday night in non-conference action. The Lumberjacks improve to 6-4 and the Bulldogs fall to 6-4.
It took all 40 minutes and then some to decide the winner of this intense battle between the Lumberjacks and the Bulldogs. For the third straight time between these two teams, the game was decided in the final seconds of the game, and for the second straight time, it was decided in overtime. The match was a back-and-forth battle all game long as there were 12 lead changes and nine instances where the score was tied. But in the end, AJ Cajuste had the final say in this matchup as he drove down the court with under five seconds remaining, sliced through four defenders, and made the game-winning layup with under a second remaining. With this victory in Ruston, the Lumberjacks break the Bulldogs record of 31 straight wins against non-conference teams at home, dating back to late 2017.
Nothing was easy in this win as the 'Jacks overcame adversity. They committed a team season-high 28 turnovers which allowed the Bulldogs to stay in reach of the lead and score 23 points off those turnovers. The injury bug has also stung the 'Jacks as they traveled to Ruston with only eight healthy players eligible to play. Because of the injuries, all of the Lumberjacks who played tonight played a season-high number of minutes in the match.
Kyle Hayman had a memorable homecoming as he returned to his home state of Louisiana and scored a career-high 18 points, went a perfect 4-4 on three-pointers, and led the 'Jacks in scoring. Hayman wasn't the only one who lit up the score sheet, as four more additional Lumberjacks scored over 13 points. Cajuste put 16 points on the board which included going 3-4 on three-pointers and the most important layup of the game. Sadaidriene Hall also scored 16 points on the match and led the team with eight rebounds. Latrell Jossell was on fire in the second half as he made three consecutive three-pointers in the span of three minutes and totaled five buckets from beyond the arc to tally 15 points on the night. Nigel Hawkins played a pivotal role all game as he recorded 13 points, five assists, and five rebounds.
In a very tight and evenly competitive match, the 'Jacks led in the following statistical categories: field goal percentage (52-47), three-point percentage (44-20), free-throw percentage (89-62), total rebounds (35-32), bench points (34-24), assists (20-19).
A Look at the Paladins
The Paladins head into the match with a 7-4 record and a 5-1 home record.
They are coming off a 73-92 road loss at NC State. The Paladins had a slower start than what they were expected as they only made 37.93% of their baskets in the first half and found themselves down 48-29 going into half. They were able to keep up with NC State in the second half but it wasn't enough to make up the deficit from the first half.
Mike Bothwell is the one to lookout for the SFA defense as he leads the Paladins with 19.7 points per game and 48 assists on the season. He was also the lead scorer in the match against NC State as he put up 14 points, all coming inside the paint. Garrett Hien is the sharp shooter for the team beyond the arc as he records a .563 three-point percentage. Jalen Slawson is not only going to be a threat for our defense but also for our offense with Slawson leading the team with 21 steals and 15 blocks.

The Lumberjacks were voted to finish third in the both the WAC Pre-Season Coaches' Poll and the WAC Preseason Media Poll.
In the coaches' poll, SFA finished with 111 votes and are 16 points behind second-place New Mexico State, and 10 points ahead of fourth-ranked Abilene Christian. In the media poll, the 'Jacks are slated between NM State, and ACU.

Duo Named to All-WAC Preseason Team
Sophomores Sadaidriene Hall and Jaylin Jackson-Posey were selected to the All-WAC Preseason Second Team, as voted by the coaches. Jackson-Posey was additionally named to the All-WAC Preseason Media Team.
Jackson-Posey had a standout 2021-22 freshman campaign.
The Midland, Texas native appeared in 31 games on the season, starting in seven of those matchups and averaged 22.1 minutes, 7.5 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Jackson-Posey recorded 67 assists, 41 steals, and 25 blocks throughout the year, being ranked in the top three on the team in each of those categories. Additionally, he scored double digits in eight games.
Hall played a significant role for the 'Jacks last season.
Hall in all 32 games on the season, starting in three of those matches and averaged 19.7 minutes, 9.4 points, and 5.3 rebounds per game. A key player on the court, he had the second -best field goal percentage (.578) on the team with a minimum of 100 attempts, third most points scored in the season (300), third most rebounds (170), third most steals (39), and second most blocks (27). The Sulphur Springs, Texas native Scored double digits in 14 games including a 28-point double-double performance against Wiley, and15 points on the board in the senior night matchup against Abilene Christian, which included a game winning jump shot as the clock hit zero.
