Volleyball Gets 10th Sweep of the Season on Senior Day

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Utah Tech, 3-0 on Senior Day and earned their 10th sweep of the season. SFA finishes the regular season with a 23-4 overall record and an 11-3 conference record, while Utah Tech falls to 11-12 overall and 5-9 in conference.
In the first set, points were traded by the teams until Utah Tech scored their 16th point of the set, after that SFA went on a six-point scoring run to extend their lead to 23-16. The Ladyjacks would score the final two points of the set to win 25-18. SFA had two four-point runs and a five-point run in the second set, but Utah Tech rallied back and took it to extras. The Ladyjacks took the final two points of that set and won 26-24. SFA was down 4-3 early in the third set, but then went on a five-point run to take back the lead 8-3 and never looked back as they won the final set 25-18.
SFA lead Utah Tech in points (63-41), kills (49-31), aces (6-3), blocks (8-7), assists (45-25), digs (59-47), and hitting percentage (.254-.145). Ielan Bradley led the offensive attack for the Ladyjacks with 11 kills, followed by Camryn Hill who recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Jayden Flynn had 23 assists, while Maddy Bourque recorded 20. Izabella Ortiz and Hill each had three total blocks in this match. Haley Hoang led the defensive effort for the Ladyjacks with 17 digs which includes her 500th dig of the season. Senior Ariana Pagan recorded 13 digs and nine kills in this match.
Seniors Ariana Pagan, Kelsey Harrington, Payton Cerny and manager Jenna Robichaux were all honored after the match for their contributions to the SFA Volleyball program over the past four years. SFA will be heading to Edinburg as the No. 2 seed on Tuesday for the WAC Conference Tournament. The first game for the Ladyjacks will be Thursday, November 17th at 1 p.m. as they face the CBU Lancers.
