Arriaga’s Walk-off Winner Secures Senior Day Win in Extras, 1-0

Nacogdoches, Texas — Senior Marisa Arriaga picked an excellent time to come up with a big hit on Saturday, as her base knock to left center field drove in the winning run in walk-off fashion. The 1-0 victory for the Ladyjacks gave them the series win over HBU and improved their overall record to 34-10 on the season and 24-2 in league play.
Arriaga's crucial base knock scored Camryn Middlebrook, who had led off the bottom of the ninth with a HBP, her second of the game. Middlebrook then advanced over to second on a single by Shaylon Govan, before a pair of quick outs threatened to strand both base runners. In stepped Arriaga, who had been one of three seniors who were recognized before the game for her career at SFA. She attacked the first offering from HBU starter Jessica Patak, driving it over the shortstop's head and into left center field.
Patak and Wilbur went head to head with complete game shutout performances for the second time over the weekend, but it was Wilbur who emerged victorious this time. The win was her 29th of the season, the single best tally by a Ladyjack in a single season.
