Nave Earns Southland Women's Track Athlete of the Week Honors

FRISCO, Texas -- Senior sprinter Imani Nave earned recognition from the Southland Conference on Wednesday as the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, according to a league release. Nave earns her first such award of the outdoor season after her performance over the weekend at the Fred Duckett Twilight Meet in Houston, Texas.
Nave registered the best time in the Southland Conference this season for the 200m with her effort at the Fred Duckett Twilight meet. The senior crossed the finish line in 23.54 seconds, which is among the top 30 performances nationally this season. She also ran the first leg of the winning 4x400 SFA relay and the 4x100 relay, which placed second. She placed second in the 100m with a time of 11.8 seconds - the Southland's sixth-best time in the 100 this season.
Asani Hylton and Kaylee Bizzell earned Honorable Mention as Southland Conference Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week for their performances in Houston over the weekend.
Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school's sports information director. Voting for one's own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on at least 25 percent of ballots.
