
Ladyjack Softball Completes Sweep of Northwestern State with 6-0 Victory on Sunday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The SFA softball team used a big third inning to complete the sweep of rival Northwestern State on Sunday, posting a 6-0 shutout win over the Lady Demons to continue their program-record 17-game winning streak. SFA improves to 27-8 overall and remains undefeated in league play at 18-0.
After two scoreless innings by both teams to open play, the 'Jacks exploded for five runs in the third inning. a trio of one-out singles got the 'Jacks loaded up for Shaylon Govan, who drew a walk to force in SFA's first run of the contest. Gaby Garcia then came up and smacked her seventh home run of the season over the left field wall to score Govan, Camryn Middlebrook, Bryana Novegil and herself for a 5-0 lead.
SFA tacked on a run in the sixth thansk to some sloppy play by the Lady Demons which allowed Bailey Richards to come home for a 6-0 lead.
With a comfortable lead in hand, Kassidy Wilbur was comfortable in the circle, improving to 23-3 on the season with a complete game shutout. She allowed just four hits and a walk, and struck our six batters.
Garcia, Novegil and Middlebrook led SFA with two hits apiece, while Govan drew three walks and Garcia drove in four runs.
