Lions Sweep 'Jacks in SLC Series

GAME 1 | SLU, 9-6
The first game was originally slated to play seven innings, where the Lions created the first streak of offense by stringing together three straight base hits for a trio of runs in the fourth inning, capped off by a home run to open up the fifth.
After the Lions opened up with the 4-0 lead after five complete, SFA's Kyle Cullen doubled to right center for an RBI to score Cameron Crawford (BB) for the first run of the game for the Lumberjacks.
The 'Jacks did not stop here, though, followed by Adrian Minjares grounding out to advance Cullen home. Sean Moore was able to continue the offensive stanza with a double to right center to charge home Skylar Black (BB).
SFA gathered three runs off two hits during the bottom of the fifth, only trailing 4-3 after five.
Another homer set the tone for the Lions in the sixth in addition to a sacrifice fly to bring in another runner to bump the lead back up to two.
With two outs on the board and the bases juiced in the seventh, Clayton Loranger came away with an RBI walk to advance Lumberjack runners (Cal Campbell and Martin Rodriguez), allowing Cullen to touch home plate once again (SLU, 6-4).
Zarrello then singled through the left side, scoring Campbell and Rodriguez to knot the game up at 6-6, forcing an eighth inning. The Lions found three more runs in the top of the eighth to seal the deal, as the 'Jacks didn't convert on a hit in the eighth to match.
GAME 2 | SLU, 5-3
Three more base hits for three quick runs were able to get the Lions going second inning for a 3-0 advantage, with two more tallies added to the board to make it 5-0 to wrap up the fifth.
The 'Jacks had to maneuver quickly in this seven-inning contest, able to do so in the sixth by Moore grounding out to third for an RBI, complemented by a pair of RBI singles from Cullen and Black to tighten the SLU lead back to 5-3, which ended up being the final score.
The Lions snagged 11 hits with two doubles, and the 'Jacks finished with eight on the outing.

SFA will be back in action next weekend for a four-game series at Central Arkansas.
