LUBBOCK, Texas -- After an entertaining spark in the ninth inning last night, the 'Jacks were able to create similar intensity in game two, just falling short to the No. 8 Red Raiders, 7-5. SFA moves to 12-16, 9-7 in conference play.
Texas Tech scored two home runs in the first two innings of play, both scored by Easton Murrell to enhance the early 3-0 advantage. The 'Jacks didn't back down in the third inning, taking a 4-3 lead after three complete innings.
Bryan Burgos singled up the middle to charge in two Lumberjack runners in the third (Chaney Dodge and Will Cerny), while Burgos came in himself due to a wild pitch. The 'Jacks strung four hits together in their half of the innings, others coming from Kyle Cullen (1B, BU), Cameron Crawford (1B, RF) and Chaney Dodge (2B, LF).
The seventh inning consisted of more offensive action for both squads, as the 'Jacks struck first with a ground out RBI from Burgos to shift the lead to 5-3. The Red Raiders responded immediately, tallying four runs to take the lead back, 7-5, enough to sweep the two game series.
