NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Junior LHP Angelo Gennari (2-2) logged 7.0 scoreless innings on the hill for the 'Jacks, limiting Incarnate Word (10-9, 7-6) to just one hit with 10 strikeouts for SFA's sixth straight Southland Conference triumph after sweeping a four-game series with McNeese last week. The Lumberjacks move to 9-12, 7-6.
SIZZLING LUMBERJACK BATS
SFA set the tone from the beginning, cruising 7-0 after the first frame. RBI's from Skylar Black and Adrian Minjares quickly advanced runners for an early 2-0 advantage, with Jordan Monacy able to reach home on fielder's choice during the inning as well. The gem of the opening stanza was a 3 RBI homer from Chaney Dodge to tally three more for the 'Jacks.
In the third, Kyle Cullen singled up the middle to give Dodge the nod to come home, as Cullen advanced to third on a wild pitch to clear Burgos for another. SFA took advantage of another wild pitch opportunity during the third, with Cullen eventually scoring on a wild pitch during Black's at-bat for run No. 10 for the 'Jacks. The fourth and sixth innings comprised of a 2 RBI homer belonging to Kade Clemens and a 2 RBI base hit from Gabe Irwin to top off the victory.
The Lumberjacks will now prepare for a doubleheader tomorrow at Jaycee's Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
