Arthurs' Goal Not Enough as Lumberjacks Drop Tight Overtime Battle, 2-1

HAMMOND, La. -- The SFA soccer team battled conference Southeastern Louisiana into two overtime periods on Sunday in Hammond, ultimately falling to the Lady Lions on a golden goal in the 105th minute of play, 2-1. With the result, SFA is now 6-3-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two squads played a tight game throughout the regulation period, with a scoreless draw carrying into the game's 80th minute, where SLU would draw first blood late in the game. Fortunately, the 'Jacks responded just two minutes later, as Carli Arthurs scored off an assist from Lauren Prentice to equalize the game. After the teams could not settle the match in the remainder of regulation, the affair headed to overtime.
SFA would manage a shot in the first overtime and SLU would get off two, but neither side would find the golden goal and a second overtime was played. Four minutes into the second overtime, the hosts would score to win the game by a 2-1 score.
