
Ladyjacks Sweep Northwestern State 3-0; Secure Spot in Southland Conference Tournament

The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (21-5, 9-1) secured a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament following a 3-0 sweep against the Northwestern State Demons at Shelton Gym Saturday afternoon (25-13, 25-12, 25-14). This year marks the 33rd time the Ladyjacks have appeared in the SLC Tournament, seeking its third consecutive conference title and seventh total in program history.

The Ladyjacks came out firing in the first set, going 16-24 (.542) as a team to begin what would be a sweep. SFA created its first double-digit lead when the game sat at 15-5, thanks to a kill from Pilgrim's Player of the Game Kennedy Wright for point No. 15 of the set. From then on, the Demons only converted on eight more points in the set, as the Ladyjacks held the Demons to a 0.094 hitting percentage for only seven completed slams on 32 attempts.
SET 2 | SFA, 25-12
The set was knotted at 6-6 early on, but eight straight points from the Ladyjacks was the difference maker in this one, extending the lead to 14-6. During this span, Wright contributed four kills with two kills from Taya Mitchell to boost the SFA offense. The Ladyjacks coasted the rest of the way, with game point coming from Allie Hamsher's service ace.
SET 3 | SFA, 25-14
A similar run was created by SFA in the third set, where the Ladyjacks exploded for a 6-0 run when the game sat 9-7 (SFA), to extend the lead to 14-7. SFA hit a game-high .571 to close out the game-clinching set, converting on 16-28 attempts with zero errors, as the Ladyjacks displayed a distributed offense to grab its 21stwin of the season.
