
Lumberjack Track and Field Claims Indoor Title; Ladyjacks Take Third Overall

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The SFA men's track and field team rode a first-place finish in the final event of the meet-- the 4x400 meter relay-- to capturing the Southland Conference Indoor championship on Monday inside the Birmingham Crossplex. The dramatic finish for the men followed a third-place finish for the Ladyjacks in the meet as well, as the men finished with 105 points and the Ladyjacks, 92.
Six SFA athletes finished as individual champions on the second day of competition. Paul Martin, Auhmad Robinson and Muzuri Mattar finished the day as event champions for the Lumberjacks in the 60M hurdles (8.06), 200M dash (21.09) and 400M dash (47.04), respectively. Kelsey Ramirez was a gold medalist in the mile run with a time of 4:52.67, while Nissi Kabongo took home the top spot in the women's 400M dash (56.05). LaSean Davis won the women's 800M run with a time of 2:11.29 to also claim gold in the event.
In addition to the two champions for SFA, podium finishes were earned by the following SFA athletes on the second day of competition.
