
Well-Rounded Day for the Ladyjacks Propels Victory at ACU, 3-1

ABILENE, Texas -- The SFA Ladyjacks traveled to Abilene for a Saturday afternoon bout with the ACU Wildcats, snapping the Wildcats' three-game Southland Conference win streak, 3-1 (25-21, 25-10, 18-25, 25-17). Offensively, the Ladyjacks registered four players with double-digit kills with Cerny leading the way with 12, along with Mitchell, Powell and Procious tallying 10 each. From the defensive standpoint, Madelynn Miller dug 16 for the 'Jacks, in addition to Pagan (12) and Bourque (10). Miller also set a career-high in aces with six on the day. The Ladyjacks improve to 17-4, 5-0 (SLC).

The Ladyjacks separated themselves from the Wildcats in the first set with a six-point margin from the get-go, jumping out to an 8-2 lead from two kills from Mitchell. Toney Lindsey from ACU slimmed the lead to 13-11, but the Ladyjacks accumulated three-straight points off of two kills from Leah Powell and a Wildcat attack error. The SFA lead would soon get back to two (23-21), but the Ladyjacks offense finished the set thanks to Cerny and Mitchell.
SET 2 | SFA, 25-10
Payton Cerny put her team on the board first, as SFA was able to capitalize on two ACU attack errors to garner a 3-0 lead to start the second set. The Ladyjacks quickly established a 10-point lead (15-5), only allowing the Wildcats to score five more points in this set. SFA had its game-high hitting percentage in this set (.360).
SET 3 | ACU, 25-18
SFA fell short in Set 3 after a handful of lead changes early on, with ACU eventually edging the Ladyjacks 12-8 from SFA errors. Procious responded back with a kill over her own to make it 12-9 ACU, but Katelynn Mueller gave her team a 19-10 lead en route to the first team reaching 20 points. The Wildcats reached points number 20 from a kill from Emily Van Dyke, and two attack errors from the Ladyjacks gave ACU the final two points of the game. SFA finished this set with a hitting percentage of .093.
SET 4 | SFA, 25-17
The Ladyjacks never trailed in this game, as Cerny extended the early Ladyjack lead to 5-1. An attack error from Emily Van Dyke gave SFA a 12-5 lead at the near-midway point, with three Madelynn Miller service aces giving SFA point number 14, 15 and 16, (SFA, 16-7). The game reached 20-16 SFA in what was to be the final set of the day, topped off by a kill from Powell for the game winning point.
