
SFA Track and Field Competes at H-Town Speedcity Series

HOUSTON, Texas -- The SFA Track and Field program competed at the H-Town Speedcity Series on Saturday, competing among a strong field of teams in the meet. The SFA men took third in the team standings with a total of 114.50 points, while the women accrued 31.50 points and finished eighth.
In the sprint events. Auhmad Robinson continued his strong indoor season with a second place finish in the 200M dash with a time of 21.12, while teammate Ashton Callahan finished fifth with a mark of 21.61. Robinson continued his successful day with an event win in the 400M dash (47.65), while Muzuri Mattar took third (48.37) and Justin Garcia claimed fifth (49.80). In the 60M hurdles, Theron Cobb took fourth with a time of 8.53, while Kellen Williams took sixth with an 8.72 mark. In the men's 4x400. the SFA A relay of Mattar, Robinson, Callahan and Joseph Porter took second in the event with a 3:16.76 time.
Finishing sixth in the mile run was freshman Riley Elliott with a time of 4:26.74.
Nissi Kabongo took fourth in the women's 400M with a time of 56.08, a new personal best, and joined Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon, Christiana Mudd and Ariyana Harris in placing third in the women's 4x400 relay with a mark of 3:50.16.
The Lumberjacks got two Top-5 finishes in the high jump from Theron Cobb (third) and JaShuan Cook (sixth). Cobb leapt to a mark of 1.95m (6-4.75), while Cook finished with a height of 1.95m as well and took sixth based on attempts. Connor Bragg (6.91m), Joseph Porter (6.89m) and Dushon Orr (6.76m) took third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's long jump, with each clearing 22 feet in the event. Sheldon Noble took fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.47m (47-05.75). Coquillaud-Salomon placed third in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.63m (5-04.25), while Aolani Harris took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.66m (18-07)
Branson Ellis claimed victory in the men's vault, clearing 5.42m (17-09.25) to lead the field. Teammate Carter Scott took fifth with a clearance of 5.08m (16-08). Riley Floerke took second in the women's vault with a height of 3.85m (12-07.50)
In the throws, Kevin Steward led the way for SFA with a second place finish in the men's shot put, reaching a distance of 16.12m (52-10.75). Steward also took third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.63m (51-03.5), followed by Jacob Cote (fifth-14.26m) and Seth Murray (sixth-14.02m). Bellodgia Roberson took sixth in the women's weight throw thanks to a mark of 15.65m (51-04.25).
