
Lumberjack Basketball Picked to Finish Third in WAC Preseason Coaches Poll; Second in WAC Media Poll

DENVER, CO – The SFA men's basketball was picked to finish third in the upcoming WAC season, according to a preseason poll of the league's coaches on Tuesday morning. The Lumberjacks earned one first-place vote and 106 total points, finishing behind consensus top pick New Mexico State (eight first-place votes, 138 points) and Grand Canyon (three first-place votes, 131 points) atop the poll. Utah Valley (103) and Abilene Christian (1-92) rounded out the top five spots in the poll.
In a corresponding release, the league also announced the results of the WAC Media Preseason Poll, which saw the 'Jacks picked second ahead of Grand Canyon by a collection of the league's media. GCU, Abilene Christian and Utah Valley rounded out the top five spots in the media poll as well.
Also included in the Tuesday morning release were the Preseason All-WAC teams, a collection of 16 athletes spread out among two teams. SFA's Gavin Kensmil was chosen to a spot on the First Team, while Roti Ware was named to the Second Team.
Seattle's Darrion Trammell was named the Preseason Player of the Year in the Coaches Poll, while Utah Valley's Fardaws Aimaq was chosen as the Preseason Player of the Year by the media poll.
